Hey, guess I'll use Vox as a place to show off some my design work. This is an idea for a new message forum skin that I put together last night while chatting with coditan over IM. Initial design inspiration came from the UI for the upcoming PS3 version of Singstar (or, I guess, the mock-up UI, since who knows if it's going to be final or not.)
While not shown, most of the user info in the blue sidebar would be collapsable (defaulting to collapsed), to not take up a lot of room since it normally isn't "must-have" stuff. Items on the far right would highlight as rolled over.
I'm pretty partial to having the top menu stick to the top of the browser viewing area - I did that for my own forums, and it's nice to have your navigation items there instead of getting to the bottom of a thread and then having to scroll back up to drop back down into a forum or the main page. So, I suppose this mock-up would work like that as well.
